Flying the flag for the NHS at the English/Scottish border near Berwick

As well as the Northumberland and union flags, a new standard has been raised - thanking the NHS for their work during the coronavirus pandemic.
The flags are made in the county - and a similar one is also flying at County Hall.

Hide AdNorthumberland County Council leader Peter Jackson said: “Like the whole country we’re tremendously proud of the work of the NHS and all our other key workers in what is an unprecedented situation.
“We felt it only right that we should recognise their efforts every way we can and now the thousands of drivers who pass through our border with Scotland on the A1 every day can see this flag.”
Scottish lockdown restrictions are set to be eased from May 28.
