Children from Longhoughton C of E Primary School and Barndale House School in Alnwick, along with local veterans, are usually invited to RAF Boulmer for Christmas parties.
Unfortunately, this year Covid-19 meant that there was no way to safely hold these parties, which was really disappointing for everyone.

Hide AdTo show their appreciation for the local community and hopefully raise a smile at the end of a difficult year, the Christmas committee at RAF Boulmer instead arranged for a delivery of Christmas gifts to both schools and to the veterans.
The children at both schools all received a selection box, delivered by Flying Officer Jon Salmon.
The veterans received a hamper of locally produced items and a Christmas card.
Sally Carrigan from Barndale House School said: “We would just like to thank everyone at RAF Boulmer for their continued support for our school. It's so sad we can't have a Christmas party this year, but we are so grateful for their donation.”

Hide AdMrs Critchlow, headteacher of Longhoughton C of E Primary School said: “A huge thank you to RAF Boulmer for the selection boxes. The children always enjoy their party at RAF Boulmer and we hope we will be invited again next year.”
RAF Boulmer was also delighted at the response from local schools to its annual Christmas card competition.
Last month, it submitted plans to Northumberland County Council for a £156,000 upgrade of the Tedder play park in Longhoughton.
