Man charged with alleged Alnwick stab attack makes first appearance at court

John Lundy, 41, from Windsor Gardens, Alnwick, is accused of wounding with intent to commit grievous bodily harm after an incident in the town on Tuesday evening.
He appeared before North Tyneside Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, June 18, and was remanded in custody to appear at Newcastle Crown Court on Thursday, July 16.

Hide AdEmergency services, which included an air ambulance, rushed to Lion Bridge, near Alnwick Castle, just before 7pm on June 16 after reports that a man had been attacked.
The injured man was taken by road ambulance to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary.
Northumbria Police later said the 48-year-old man suffered “serious but not life threatening injuries” and described his condition as stable.
They also described the case as an “isolated incident” with officers visiting the area on Wednesday to reassure the community while continuing their inquiries.
